    Finance Director | £55k-£65k per annum | part time | permanent | hybrid/London | EMI share options + awesome benefits!

    As Finance Director you will be fully accountable for the finance operation at Hire Space. You’ll project manage processes alongside our credit controllers, operations team and outsourced accounting function. You’ll also play a key role on financial strategy and fundraising alongside the founders while leading on forecasting, budgeting and cost control.

    You will develop a deep level of industry knowledge, with a particular focus on developing methods of financial reporting. You will be expected to develop the various financial process the company runs, and to adapt to them as we scale.
    Additionally, you should be comfortable managing in both upward and downward directions by providing developmental guidance to direct reports and also contributing to high-level business critical decisions.

    Key Responsibilities

    Reporting

    • Preparation and design of management accounts
    • Preparation of design of board packs alongside co-founders and Head of Operations
    • Liaising with our Bank to provide monthly management information
    Forecasting
    • Short term (c. 1 year) cash flow forecast (updated monthly)
    • 2 year monthly forecast model (updated quarterly)
    • 5 year yearly forecast model (updated quarterly)
    Credit Control
    • Ultimate responsibility for managing liquidity risk and ensuring the credit control and billing strategy are suitable for this purpose
    • Ultimately point of dispute resolution, responsibility for systems to avoid these
    Payables
    • Managing c. £1m in payables a month to venues for events booked through the platform
    • Financial controls in place to make sure that venues get paid on time and that all payments are funded by a corresponding client payment.
    • Month end audit to ensure that completed events are profitable on a cash basis
    Payroll
    • Audit as required
    • End of year submissions
    Financial Strategy
    • Financial strategy to provide the resources to execute the long term business plan for Hire Space
    • Preparation of materials to support fundraising and involvement in pitching / closing as required
    • Recommendations to increase the profitability of the business to commercial stakeholders within the team
    Accounting and Bookkeeping
    • Point of contact for external accountants
    • Ultimately responsibility and audit as required for key accounting processes including:
      • Reconciliations
      • Accruals
      • VAT returns (in cash planning for this)
      • Corporate Tax returns
      • Other HMRC / Companies House submissions as required
    You should apply if you:

    • Have experience in being fully accountable for a busy and thriving finance department
    • Have a deep level of understanding of financial reporting, processes, forecasting and budget control
    • Have the ability to lead a busy finance function and collaborate with other departments, credit controllers, operations and sales teams along with outsourced accounting functions.

    Logistics

    This is a hybrid remote / in-person role. You will be required to work from our Central London office location from time to time, and this allocation may change over time. You should always be somewhere that operates on UK time.
    Our client base is predominantly in London and it is important that you are able to visit venues, clients and attend our away days in-person. You can usually expect to be in/around London on average 3 days per week, managing your own diary as appropriate.
