About Engage Smarter AI
At Engage Smarter AI, we’re a young technology startup on an important mission: to empower everyone to make smarter financial decisions.
Our product
Our product is an AI agent platform that delivers financial guidance. It plugs into enterprise AI and customer service systems, enabling the customers of large financial services institutions, such as pension providers and banks, to get the support and guidance they need in the moments it matters most to them.
Your responsibilities
You’ll play a critical role in iterating on and building out our bench of expert AI agents. An important area of focus will be assuring the quality and safety of the AI agents, both as part of development and once deployed to production.
Some areas of focus include:
- Agent evaluation tooling and eval dataset construction
- New agent features and pipeline architectures
- Staying on top of the latest generative AI research
About you
We’re looking for someone early in their career (1-3 years) with a strong background in data science and machine learning and a passion for all things data and software.
Being self-motivated and curious to learn, as well as comfortable taking on increasing responsibility, are all important characteristics in a fast-paced startup environment. Showing strong attention to detail is also important for this role specifically.
An interest in financial topics is beneficial, given our consumer financial product focus.
Technical knowledge and skills required:
- Our product hinges on AI agents, LLMs, data science, and machine learning, so an understanding of these topics is critical. Previous work in the context of unstructured / text data and NLP is desirable. A strong attention to detail is important for this role.
- An MSc in machine learning, data science, computer science or equivalent is desirable.
- Fluency in Python and its data science, ML and gen AI stack (e.g. Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Pytorch, Transformers, Langchain, DSPy). Familiarity with backend development (e.g. FastAPI, MongoDB) and software engineering principles (e.g. TDD, CICD, Docker, Git) desirable.
Right now, we’re open to freelancers/contractors or those interested in part-time employment. If the initial period goes well, there is potential for this to develop into a permanent position with substantial opportunities for professional growth.
Preference is for someone within commuting distance of London, as we will meet at least once a month in London.
Application procedures
Please apply by sending us your CV and a cover letter. We will review all applications received.
Candidates who pass the review stage will be invited to interview with 2-3 members of the team.
As part of the interview process, we will be seeking to understand and evidence your technical skills and background, as well as getting to know you and your motivations for working in a startup environment. Depending on your past projects, we may ask you to complete a small project to demonstrate your technical skills.
