The Role

We are seeking a collaborative Business Intelligence Engineer who thrives in translating complex business needs into accurate data models and actionable insights. This role demands a strong foundational understanding of SQL and proficiency in modern BI tools and practices. You will be instrumental in designing, developing and maintaining advanced reporting systems that directly support decision-making and business strategy by creating meaningful insights. You will have a high level of autonomy and accountability in this role. Your work will impact our growth trajectory and help us stay competitive in a fast-evolving tech landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Looker dashboards and reports that provide insightful analytics across multiple business functions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, finance, marketing, sales, and customer success to gather and interpret data
  • Utilise BI tools to automate the analytics creation process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data reports
  • Support data governance and ensure data integrity across Data Lake and BI systems
  • Continuously enhance data collection and evaluation methods to improve analytical efficiency and quality
  • Drive the decision-making process by evaluating different data-driven scenarios and presenting their potential impacts to stakeholders
  • Integrating advanced visualisation tools and techniques to make data more accessible and understandable for non-technical stakeholders
  • Conducting training sessions and support for other team members or departments on how to use BI tools and dashboards effectively
  • Data quality management including regularly reviewing and cleansing data to maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and reliability.Working closely on data strategy to influence the design of underlying data structures to better support BI needs including improving data acquisition, storage, and usage across the organisation
  • Creating detailed documentation for all BI processes and dashboards to ensure continuity and ease of maintenance
  • Producing regular reports on BI tool usage, performance, and impact on business outcomes


Requirements

  • Proficiency with ETL tools, preferably AWS Glue and DBT
  • Proficiency in SQL and LookML and a strong understanding of data modelling concepts
  • Proficiency in Looker and experience with other business intelligence tools would be an advantage
  • Strong experience in data analysis and statistics
  • Strong experience with the Data Lake, preferably Snowflake
  • Experience with Git version control systems
  • Ability to understand and translate business processes into requirements and data models
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose multiple solutions with recommendations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively across multiple stakeholders
  • Familiarity with data warehouse design and best practices, including knowledge of both traditional and modern data warehouse solutions
  • Experience in the design principles of effective dashboards and reports, and the ability to convey information clearly and effectively
  • A degree or relevant experience in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or certifications like Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) or AWS Certified Data Analytics
  • Desirable: Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, and automation tasks
  • Desirable: Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn) or predictive analytics
