At Conception X, we turn today’s PhD research into tomorrow’s deeptech startups.

Since launching in 2018 as a public innovation pilot within University College London, we have quickly grown as an independent not-for-profit, attracting aspiring PhD founders from more than 60 universities across the UK and Europe. Every year, we select 100+ researchers and offer them specialised training, support and facilitated access to early funding. To date, we have recruited seven cohorts, built 450+ teams and our portfolio startups have gone on to raise more than £87 million. Our founders are developing cancer vaccines, discovering new materials to build carbon-negative cities, optimising AI models to consume less energy, and more.
