Mane Hook-Up is revolutionising the afro hair industry by making it easy to find and book appointments with local afro hairstylists. We know that afro hairstylists and their customers are underserved, so we aim to cater to both in equal measure. Our online booking platform gives hairstylists an opportunity to acquire new clients digitally, and customers finally have a way to find quality afro hairstylists beyond word of mouth. Ultimately, we’re here to support people on both sides of the chair and diversify the hair and beauty industry. Afro hair should be celebrated and, we’re here to make sure that happens on a global scale.

The Role

We are looking for someone who wants first-hand marketing and social media experience. You’ll be working with our Founder, marketing and community interns to create video content for our two main social channels: Instagram & TikTok.

We want someone who isn't afraid to walk up to people in the busy streets of New York and ask them quick-fire questions about their hair. There will probably be a lot of no's, so we also need someone who has thick skin.

There's space to be creative, take the lead with your ideas and help us build one of our social channels from 0 to thousands.

This will require about 10 hours (1.5 days) of work a week. We want to provide you with the experience that you need to take the next step in your career. So, this is a great opportunity for anyone who has recently graduated and wants some additional experience right now.

You will…

• Create new video content for social media and be the face of the Mane Hook-Up brand in NYC
• Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network
• Build up our NYC stylist and customer waitlist via social media by creating engaging content the community loves.
• Collect customer/stylist feedback and reviews and use that as social proof content.
• Acting as a backup by mutually supporting the other team members.

What we need to see...

• 📚 willingness to learn - we don't care how much experience you have. But we do want to see that you're passionate and want to have an impact.
• 📣an interest in learning about marketing - you'll have a chance to dabble in some of that work as well.
• Good time-management skills - everyone on the team is busy and we need you to work with us really effectively by managing your time well.
• 😆 a sense of humour - we don't take ourselves too seriously. But we do work hard
• 💭critical thinker, problem-solving skills and great interpersonal skills
• 🏃🏾‍♀️ you're a fast learner who likes to try new things and see how they work.

The interview process
