The role

As a qualified legal professional, ideally with experience as a sole in-house lawyer, this is a rare opportunity to enhance your CV and help shape the success of a science-based SME with a bright future.

As a world leader in delivering nature data and intelligence, NatureMetrics is a technology company working at the cutting edge of molecular biodiversity monitoring and bringing high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies to the frontline of environmental management around the world. We have grown rapidly over the last five years and validated our technology in multiple industry sectors and regions. With an exciting scale up plan backed by ambitious and supportive investors, we are now recruiting a Legal Counsel to collaborate with our CFO to establish the Legal function to focus on legal, governance and risk management responsibilities.

  • Provide executive support and project management for Series B negotiations.
  • Handle due diligence processes, shareholder communications & post-completion actions.
  • Implement a framework of standard contracts.
  • Define negotiation positions & service levels to empower the sales team in legal negotiations.
  • Support the Sales team with non-standard contract preparation.
  • Provide legal advice for the Product & Technology teams.
  • Conduct data protection compliance reviews & develop compliance documents.
  • Work with external legal counsel where needed.
  • Draft agreements.
  • Collaborate with CFO & CEO on Mergers & Acquisitions deals/agreements.
About you

  • Qualified lawyer.
  • Excellent communication, organisational & time management skills.
  • Able to prioritise workload based on strategic & tactical business priorities.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Able to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Highly organised with an eye for detail.
  • Ideally with experience as sole in-house lawyer.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment.
  • Experience working within a technology company.
