The role

If your background is in software development, cloud services, SaaS product and Dev/Ops, this is a great opportunity to build a long-term career and work with some of the country’s most highly skilled individuals in the environmental DNA (eDNA) community.

  • Design, develop & maintain applications to enable ingestion, rapid access, & analysis of data to accelerate discovery & enable decisions across Digital, Bioinformatics and Products teams.
  • Maintain infrastructure that allows us to process, integrate & analyse biodiversity & geospatial data.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to rapidly specify, implement & deploy fit-to-purpose data pipelines.
  • Evaluate commercial & open-source tools to improve our data pipelines.
  • Maintain data engineering documentation.
  • Participate in Sprints, Scrums & other ceremonies.
  • Produce business updates/reports.
About you


    • BSc/MSc in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field.
    • Programming experience in scripting languages such as Python or Go, using version control, Git & continuous integration environments. 
    • Used to designing relational schemas to capture & represent multi-type data.
    • Able to design complex queries to generate clear representations of data from complex relational schemas across SQL/NoSQL platforms.
  • Nice to Have
    • Software experience with Geospatial technologies.
    • Experience with a cloud data warehouse/data lake.
    • Experience of cloud migrations.
