About you

You’ll be joining the Risk & Compliance team as a Head of Ops and Tech Risk. Reporting to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, you’ll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.

In this 2nd Line risk leadership role, you’ll be ‘hands-on’ and extensively experienced in engaging senior stakeholders, tactical operations, product and technology and have the ability to strategically prioritise and deliver in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also be committed to delivering excellent interactions.

You’ll also be responsible for leading a team of senior and experienced 2nd line risk colleagues, engaging with key ExCo members and their management teams providing support, input, and independent oversight of the management of the banks Operational, Product and Technology risk and control activities.

You will be

  • Defining the strategy and roadmap for the operational and technology risk team, aligning to the overall risk function and Bank wide objectives
  • Providing senior direction and guidance in the development, implementation, and communication of operational, product and technology risk-related policies and standards
  • Building and maintaining deep relationships with operational, product and technology leadership teams and collaborating with them to gain a good understanding of the posture to provide a view of the risks
  • Pro-actively driving end-to-end risk remediation planning, resolution, and monitoring activities
  • Gaining a detailed understanding of operational, product and technology strategies, to be able to articulate and assess the associated risks
  • Providing challenge across operational, product and technology risks enabling business growth while maintaining related risks within appetite
  • Overseeing controls and associated testing relating to operational, product and technology risks, assessing key controls and providing feedback to the respective functional leadership
  • Leading the roll out of risk and control sprints across the operational, product and technology control frameworks
  • Driving and monitoring operational, product and technology related RCSA’s
  • Leading the oversight of the Bank’s operational resilience practices across the entirety of the 1st line
  • Delivering on the production of management information and reporting for ExCo and board level committees and where required, regulatory presentations
  • Staying aware of operational, product, technology current affairs

Requirements

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable leadership background, having led teams in a fast moving and constantly changing environment
  • Extensive experience of 1st and/or 2nd Line risk leadership roles ideally in a banking/ fintech environment
  • Full understanding of the 3 lines model and how this is implemented, how to assess its maturity and drive evolution as required
  • Experienced in leading risk and control activities across multiple operating environments such as technology, operations, finance, people etc.
  • Deep knowledge in emerging risk topics such as model risk, AI systems risk, digital assets and TPRM
  • Proven track record in building and implementing risk tech including MS Suite, DevOps, GRC tooling etc
  • Extensive leadership experience with an ability to set direction, motivate others to align to that direction and unblock issues as they arise
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective and trustworthy working relationships with senior stakeholders across the business
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to be able to articulate complex requirements, at ExCo and Board Level
  • Excellent problem solving and self-management skills to solve technical problems tactically and analytically
  • Excellent prioritisation skills, with an ability to move between competing priorities concurrently, which can include differing complex topics
